Beach Walk

I went to Paradise Island just off the Port of Nassau to shoot Sonic Seas 3, but the conditions weren't quite right to film a Sound Waves Meditation

So in the best of Beach Bum Island Traditions, I went for a Walk.

In between getting sailing lessons on the good Sloop Mystery i was snapping pics.

I have loaded 16 in a New Picasa Web Album (see links)

Here's a shot of Captain Tim at the tiller.

And this is how you do it - Bahamian Style....

Winter sailing in the islands.

Red on Canvas

I went sailing yesterday on a beautiful old 30 foot wooden Sloop. The world is full of art. Red on Canvas caught my eye.

Sonic Seas 1

I am working on a new visual meditation concept, based on the sound of waves, on a beach.

All beaches of the world are different, not just in the daily infinate variety of their moods, throughout the year, but in their sounds, smells and sand colour. And here in the beautiful Caribbean of course its the spectral range in the colour of blue, of the water that is so striking.

The frequencies of natural sounds, bird songs, waterfalls and particularly ocean surf has been known for along time as a sonic therapeutic de stressor. White Noise Generators that imitate this sound have been on the market for a while now.

I have already mentioned the meditative value of listening to ocean waves in other posts, particularly to do with the enlightenment of a certain Beach Bodhisattva. With this project i want to take you to a few beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and record what i think is a beautiful relaxing environment.

I love beaches.

I have lived by beaches almost all of my life, and have always felt fantastically alive by a beach. We know that ocean surf produces negative ions, which have a beneficial effect on the human body. Who hasn't marveled at the beauty of Sunrises and Sunsets over an ocean horizon.

So it was natural for me then  after The Shooting Pool in the Caribbean stills photography project (on going) that this is the next mission.

Its called SONIC SEAS and i begin this Caribbean Series in the French West Indies on the island of St Barths.

I am using my little Canon IXUS 860 digital video capabilities to record with i movie, and as you will see still working out the cinematography, but with SONIC SEAS ONE i think you will get the idea.

So enjoy this little clip, even if you can't feel the sand between your toes.

Wish you were here!
