Today is the Solstice

Today is the Solstice.Summer or winter depending on what latitude you are in. At noon today the sun will be directly over head on the tropic of Capricorn, the southern hemisphere will have its longest day of the year.In the north it will be the shortest day.

Give thanks to our sun today how ever many solar rays you get.

pics; a lazy sunset over Biscayne Bay & a spectacular shot of the sun between the high rise buildings of down town Miami (taken by Agent Rob, a South Beach architect who is also a fine photographer and was crewing with me on the boat that day)

Rob's brilliant pic reminded me of the way the sun would have set between pillars of ancient sun worshiping temples around the world, particularly Stonehenge on Salisbury Plane in the UK.

The architecture of ancient sacred sites has often been planned around celestial solar events, like solstices and equinoxes, and the configuration of planets and stars.
